This morning Will and I got up very, very early especially after going to the fights the night before, I will write about that later, to pick up Alexis and take her to Baltimore MD's Aquarium. It was great to see the girls after a four day vacation. We packed in the car leaving Emme with my parents and off we went.
I love the Aquarium as much as any kid so off we went for a night of crabs and look at big fishys. But at a rest stop somewhere between Richmond and Baltimore we had an accident and that started a 6 hour visit to an ER for stitches. But anything can be fun if you are with the right people.
So here is how the accident happened. William had to stop to use the rest area and Alexis and I stayed in the car to watch our movie The Last Mimzy, which by the way was terrible two thumbs down, but it is fun to watch a new movie and Alexis had missed us so she wanted me to sit beside her in the back. When her Daddy got back in the car she asked to get out for a minute she was bored and wanted to get a snack, so off they went about a minute later I could hear a little girl screaming and crying as I look out the door I see Alexis in William's arms crying and bleeding. I jumped out the car with a napkin and put it on Alexis' chin to see a large cut that need stitches. So off we went but Alexis is afraid of Doctors even though she will tell you she wants to be a Pediatrician, so she starts to scream William and I debate do we go back, or ahead, so as we pull out of the rest stop we see it a sign that says hospital ahead. So we stop I think well how great we will run in get the stitches and keep going, we got there around 9:00am but they did not tell us that the pediatric department did not open till 2:00pm.
So all the kids who were waiting for the Pediatric department to open. The kids ran crazy in the waiting room and I realized what had caused the fall, as Alexis played in the waiting she tripped about 3 or four more times it was because of those stupid, ugly croc shoes. Alexis has a pair of hot pink ones with all the little Jibbitz in the holes normally we only wear them to the pool since when we got them about a six months ago when Alexis cornered her daddy at Nordstrom and told him everyone at school has these and she wanted a pair he purchased them for her, I had said no no no because I think crocs are stupid, ugly and not worth a cent but she cornered her daddy and as he told me he does not want her to feel left out, what is funny is she does not like to wear them but today they were the only shoes we had so this is how the accident happened. Those Damn Crocs!!!
The craziest part of the day is the hospital decided not to tell us that we were all waiting for the pediatric department to open. So as the clock struck 1:00 and a couple nasty I mean nastyyyyy hospital cheeseburgers later we started to make some calls, first to Dr. Paul then to some doctors William works with and as we are about to leave to get someone else to fix our baby's chin they call Alexis Sutherlin...Finally....and two hours and 3 stitches later we were driving home. Yep back to Richmond. We stopped and bought her a huge lunch/dinner and lots of ice cream but we were on our way home. Alexis was so disappointed but William promised he would take her sometime this week.
Here is some pictures of our day.
