Cooking is a luxury at my house
Yesterday was my husbands birthday. We went out this weekend and celebrated with our friends and he got a surfboard he wanted as a present. But yesterday was the celebration with the girls. The day started as all other Monday's getting ready for Alexis to go to school till I got a call from my friend offering to take Alexis to the Pumpkin Patch, whoops forgot that was today, sounds good I told Kathy then I felt bad and called back and said no I will take her, she said you are crazy I want to take her, Lauren her daughter is excited to have Alexis with us so I will be there at 9:15, OK. Then it was time to shop for a huge dinner for William all his favorites, but not really. So when you are trying to cook a huge dinner it would help if you did not have two screaming kids needing food, attention, naps and ect but that is how it was yesterday as I tried to make a good dinner. First twice cooked mashed potatoes , ok these came out great but they took forever, rice crispy treats I do not know what was wrong with these but I think when I was chasing my daughter Emme out of the bathroom then washing her hands because she noticeable was playing in the toilet, the marshmallow and butter mix got over cooked and turned into the cement so the rice crispy treats are like bricks, then the artichokes with hollandaise this dish did not go well at all. I started these massive artichokes steaming while I was making the girls a separate dinner and feeding them, then back to make the hollandaise sauce which took three times to get right I was ready to give up when I figured out I was over cooking the eggs so it was making the sauce lumpy and if I may say so gross finally I got a rich creamy hollandaise and finally the artichoke which took about thirty minutes to cook was done, Phew. The easiest and what turned out the best was the steak and I had nothing to do with that William cooked it on the grill. So after everyone was in bed and I was cleaning up the disaster of a kitchen I said to William this is why I never cook, thank god you like cereal so much!! Oh well that is done for this year!

'No one knows what he is doing so long as he is acting rightly; but of what is wrong one is always conscious." A Mother just knows what the right thing is to say. It sounds like you said the right thing to Lexi...and that is all that anyone can do.
"O deliver my soul from the calamities which they bring on me,
Fret not thyself because of the ungodly.
The meek-spirited shall possess the earth: and shall be refreshed in the multitude of peace."
You are a genteel soul and all of those around you are lucky indeed.
Thanks for the update...
