Complements

Today was a day of great complements. As we walked through our favorite grocery store. A sweet young mom walked by you could tell she was having a hard day, the baby crying, rushing and she was just plain frazzled. Alexis looked at her as she stood in front of us in line and said "mommy she is pretty and I love her." The mother looked back to see who this little voice was standing so close and who she was talking about. Alexis looked into her eyes and said again "you are pretty and I love you."

I thought the tears would roll out of her eyes, but she got this fabulous smile and said "oh sweetie you made my day, I have not heard that in so long." The lady continued to check out and Alexis looked at me and said "what did she say?" I tried to explain but she wanted to know "why" I replied I do not know why she has not been told in a long time but what a good girl you are to be so nice to pay her a compliment. Alexis then said "mommy I have a secret" I leaned down and put my ear to her mouth and she said "mommy I love you and you are beautiful" this time the tears did roll. Not because I had not heard it in a long time but because my daughter wanted to make sure I had heard it and wanted to make my day.

Then later that day the three of us, Will, Alexis and I were sitting on the bed and Will said "Kirsten are you going to get those guys to cut the grass?" I replied "I will cut it" Alexis got upset and said "Mommy no you can not cut the grass you are too little" Wow too little I have never been to little to do anything, when you are around 6'0 feet at thirteen being little is not your problem and this is the best compliment anyone had paid me in years and she does not even know it. Will laughed and said "when is the last time you heard that?"

My daughter Alexis is amazing and sweet. She loves her parents and her baby sister. Emme is the happiest baby she just smiles and smiles. She is walking most of the time and she is so proud. I am the luckiest mother in the world.
